This Code of Conduct applies across all BLK Tech Connect spaces, physical and digital.
Our Commitment
We are committed to creating environments where everyone feels safe, respected, and valued. Discrimination, harassment, and exclusion have no place here. We welcome people of all backgrounds, identities, and experience levels.
What We Expect
To maintain a positive and professional atmosphere, participants should:
- Use inclusive and respectful language
- Honor people's stated pronouns, and default to gender-neutral pronouns when unsure
- Respect different perspectives, backgrounds, and communication styles
- Accept constructive feedback without hostility
- Communicate clearly and with empathy
- Respect personal boundaries and space, both online and in person
- Credit sources when sharing ideas, content, or materials
- Support accessibility and inclusion efforts without pushback
What We Don't Tolerate
The following behaviors are unacceptable in any BLK Tech Connect space:
- Harassment, bullying, or repeated unwanted contact
- Trolling, personal insults, or inflammatory comments
- Sharing someone's private information without permission
- Ignoring clear boundaries
- Sexualized language, imagery, or advances
- Use of profanity or disturbing language in professional settings
- Promoting or assuming inequality based on identity, appearance, or background
- Encouraging drug use or illegal activity
- Mocking or attacking someone's preferences, interests, or identity
- Any behavior that disrupts the safety, professionalism, or integrity of our community
Accountability & Enforcement
If you witness or experience a violation of this Code of Conduct, report it directly to the BLK Tech Connect team. We will review all reports and take appropriate action, which may include removal from events, suspension from platforms, or permanent exclusion.
Organizers and moderators are empowered to intervene and enforce these standards to protect the integrity of our spaces.
Our Values in Action
BLK Tech Connect protects people who speak up, set boundaries, or advocate for inclusion. We don't entertain complaints that aim to derail those efforts. This includes:
- Attempts to claim "reverse" discrimination
- Pushback against clear boundary-setting
- Demands to debate or explain equity-related concepts
- Objections to calling out harmful behavior or assumptions
